Nuacht RTÉ is one of two Irish language television news services broadcast by RTÉ News and Current Affairs in Ireland. The service was to begin broadcasting from the TG4 Studios at Baile na hAbhann in the Connemara Gaeltacht, County Galway in late 2008 but this plan was deferred until July 2009 for budgeting reasons. Since the move to the west, Nuacht RTÉ broadcasts only one bulletin daily, at 17:45 on RTÉ One, lasting about 8 minutes. The bulletin is presented from a green screen studio in the TG4 building, which is also the Nuacht TG4 studio, however since the news is branded for RTÉ the background is similar to that of RTÉ News headlines and it avoids long shots of the Nuacht TG4 studio. It is followed by the RTÉ News with Signing, which is now voiced by the presenter who is preparing to read the Six One bulletin, which follows after the European weather forecast. Before the move, this would have been voiced by the Nuacht presenter. A team of 42 staff are employed in the research and presentation of both Nuacht RTÉ and Nuacht TG4. Three new technical positions have been created as a result of investment by RTÉ.
RTÉ News on Two is RTÉ's late evening news programme. The programme is broadcast Monday-Friday on the Irish RTÉ Two TV channel. It does not have a regular time slot, but is usually broadcast at some point between 22:45 and 23:30. It runs for 10 minutes. Until January 2013, the programme was broadcast every Monday to Thursday, lasting 22 Minutes. A world weather forecast follows each broadcast. RTÉ News on Two takes a different agenda to other RTÉ News and Current Affairs programmes. Its content is customised for a younger audience, and presenters and journalists tend to use more informal language on the programme. From October 2006 the bulletin was presented by Eileen Whelan, following the departure of Anthony Murnane, who was with the programme from the beginning. Gareth O'Connor was the programme Editor until 2010. As of January 2013, Aengus Mac Grianna presents the programme on a full time basis with Kate Egan presenting the Friday programme. Since 5 March 2007, RTÉ News on Two has been streamed live on the internet and archive shows are available to view through the RTÉ website. For the duration of the 2011 general election campaign, RTÉ News on Two in its regular format was only aired on Thursday night, with a reformatted programme, The Eleventh Hour, airing Monday-Wednesday.
